About SMSE JAZZ
Led by Jamiia Franklin, SMSE JAZZ is a 13-piece rotating jazz ensemble specializing in live performances across South-East Michigan. The ensemble performs a sophisticated mix of jazz standards and modern fusion arrangements.
SMSE JAZZ includes students and alums of several local colleges including: Eastern Michigan University, Washtenaw Community College, and the University of Michigan.

On July 19th, 2026, SMSE JAZZ was live for their Second Annual Concert, featuring favorites from modern films and video games (as well as a few classics).
This concert, titled "Standards Of The New Era," featured special guests from River's End Brass who played a great opening set and joined SMSE JAZZ for a few tunes! In case you missed it, or want to relive the event, SMSE JAZZ has posted their set on YouTube.

SMSE JAZZ’s first headlining concert was July 19th, 2025 at 6:30 pm. This night of Jazz featured an opening set by Iridescent Bloom, a performance of Pink Panther’s opening theme by the SMSE SAXES, several jazz standards and modern tunes covered by SMSE JAZZ, as well as a live performance of new the collaborative single, “No eenfo, just K H A O S.”
Watermelon Man, as performed during this concert, is available on all popular music streaming services.
no eenfo, just K H A O S is also available on streaming services, including YouTube, as a part of Iridescent Bloom's EP A Glitch In The Garden.
